Its history

About the hotel

Hôtel Terrasse Dufferin, a historic hotel in Quebec City, is located right across from the St. Lawrence River. It offers breathtaking views and easy access to explore Old Quebec on foot.

Built in 1861, the building first served as a residence for Mrs. Mary Jane Dawson and her husband, Mr. Henry Fry, a well-known merchant and boatbuilder in the old port of Quebec.

In 1941, the mansion was transformed in smaller apartments when M. Wilfrid K. Laflamme bought it.

It’s only in 1967, when Ms Donalda Morin and her husband M. Jean-Noel Poulin became owners of the property that it became a hotel.
